Hessian is used to protect lime work from the effects of extreme weather on lime work. Covering external masonry work and lime render with damp hessian in the summer months will prevent building works drying out too fast and aid carbonation.
Hessian can also be used to help provide external works from exposure to mild frost and cold weather in the winter months.

Jute is a vegetable fibre. Yarn spun from this fibre has up to 6% oil added to assist spinning. The oil may be a vegetable or refined mineral type.
